The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride as it saw the highest of highs in the form of Rinku Singh and the lowest of lows in the form of Prithvi Shaw or Riyan Parag. Some brilliant cricket has been played over the course of two months and it resulted in Chennai Super Kings lifting their fifth IPL title by beating Gujarat Titans by five wickets (DLS method) on the night of the finals.

The season also broke multiple records of the past. Be it the most number of centuries, the fifties or even the most number of 200+ run chases, the 2023 version of the cash-rich league saw almost everything. It wasn’t really bowler’s friendly but nevertheless, the fans enjoyed the grandest extravaganza of cricket.

There were plenty of individual records that were broken as well. One such is Rinku Singh’s five sixes off Yash Dayal in the final over of the match against Gujrat Titans. Notably, no other cricketer in IPL history chased 29 runs in the last five deliveries but Rinku did the unthinkable.

On the other hand, his former teammate, current GT star, Shubman Gill hit 890 runs in the recently concluded season, which is the second-highest by any cricketer and with that, he also became the third and youngest cricketer to score 800+ runs in a season.

When it comes to bowling, three of GT bowlers, Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma finished in the top three of the IPL Purple Cap race, which is a very rare phenomenon in franchise cricket.
