Times have been quite turbulent for Ravichandran Ashwin in the last few months. He was sacked from the Indian limited-overs set-up post the Champions Trophy 2017. Moreover, the ace off-spinner was also dropped from the Test eleven in the ongoing game against the

Windies. If this was not enough, he has got more bad news to come his way in the next few days.

Apparently, his IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) hasn’t been too impressed with him. In the last two years where he led the team, Ashwin has failed to get the right kind of results. Even though his side was in a good position on quite a few occasions, they drifted apart drastically leading to huge disappointment.

Thus, if the reports in the Mumbai Mirror are believed to be true, he will not only be sacked from captaincy. The Mohali-based franchise

is also looking to trade him with some other team before the next season begins.

The Delhi Capitals interested in buying Ravichandran Ashwin

It has been learnt that the KXIP franchise is negotiating with a couple of other franchises to trade him. This deal is likely to be closed in a week’s time when the franchise board meets. The Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) are the two teams which have shown great interest in acquiring him. The 32-year-old is not likely to lose financially given he was bought for INR 7.6 crores in the auction.

While it is not known yet which player the Capitals will trade for him, his experience will come handy to the franchise. Given the fact that Shreyas Iyer is a young captain, he can get some valuable insights. On the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals might trade Krishnappa Gowtham for Ravichandran Ashwin if the deal is finalised. If that is the case, the off-spinner will be playing under the leadership of Steve Smith.

In the 28 matches that he played for KXIP, Ashwin picked up 25 wickets. In his place, the franchise is planning to hand over the leadership to KL Rahul. Also, the Delhi Capitals are in consultation with the Rajasthan Royals to trade Ajinkya Rahane.
