IPL 2019: DC v CSK - Rabada vs Watson: A sequel to the epic battle between the Aussie and Wahab Riaz

We all know what transpired when Wahab Riaz and Shane Watson faced off in the 2015 World Cup in Australia. The fiery Pakistan pacer was in the face of Watson nearly every ball and taunted him with bouncers at pace. Watson, though, emerged victorious in the battle by surviving a searing spell of fast bowling.

In Delhi, in the fifth match of the 2019 season of the IPL, we nearly witnessed a sequel to the memorable battle with South African seamer, Kagiso Rabada, infamous for his clashes with the Aussies in the past, pissing Watson off.

In the fourth over of the run-chase, Rabada sent down fireballs at the Chennai opener clocking over 145kmph every single ball. He forced Watson to go deep on his crease with a 148kmph yorker followed by a bouncer at same pace. Watson, though, responded with a four off a 150kmph yorker and then thumped the follow-up bouncer for six over the keeper, albeit off an edge.

Rabada was visibly frustrated and responded by complaining to the umpire about Watson, although it wasn't really clear what the Aussie had done wrong. He was seen exchanging words with the Chennai batsman too.

Like in the battle with Riaz, the words and frustration only spurred Watson on and he made a belligerent 26-ball 44 before being stumped off Amit Mishra.
