IPL 2019: SRH vs KKR, Key Battle: Kuldeep Yadav's declining IPL strike-rates

It's no secret that KKR's bowling has struggled throughout the season. The pace bowling, in particular, has got carted around the park while the spinners, while managing wickets, have also been on the expensive side of things. Kuldeep Yadav, one of the strike weapons of the side, has endured a shocking campaign so far.

The wrist spinner has often looked out of ideas when the batsmen have gone after him. Agreed that the surfaces at Eden that support power-hitting don't help his cause but it's not as if Kuldeep hasn't bowled on true surfaces before. The mauling that he got in the hands of Moeen Ali the other night was only one of the many instances this year.

From his IPL career's point of view, the graph has been downwards in terms of his wicket-taking ability, a fact that's depicted by the declining strike-rates over the years. With his batting and fielding not quite suited, it becomes paramount for Kuldeep to get his wicket-taking ability which is his x-factor as a bowler.

With the World Cup not far away, it's important for the chinaman bowler to rediscover his rhythm and confidence. Right now, it's definitely rock bottom as far as his mood is concerned. If he can manage to clear these obstacles, not only will it make him a better bowler, but also will prove for KKR who are having a clear shortage of wicket-taking options.
