PUNE: Bringing relief to teachers protesting against the large number of data entry tasks assigned to them across various online portals, the education department is in the process of launching a single app for all required online entries.
Suraj Mandhare, Commissioner of Education, who conceived this idea said that current process was taking a lot of the teachers time, as well as their effort, and the mismatch was a burden.
"An integrated portal will save the efforts of uploading the same data again and again. There will be complete sync between multiple portals and information mismatch will not happen. Our decisions today should be based on data analysis and the data and portal integration will help achieve this," Mandhare said.
Funds to the tune of Rs30 crore have been allocated for the project from Samagra Shiksha and the process is expected to take about six months to complete.
"Right now we have systems but they are not talking to each other. I have been assigned the responsibility to get everything done. I have held 2-3 meetings and received good inputs too.
About 10-15 different portals will be integrated. We will also ensure data security to prevent leakage and manipulation of data. We will float the RFP and call for bids. Anyone can apply, from government-owned companies to start-ups. It will be a competitive bid," Mandhare told TOI.
