PANAJI: Health minister Vishwajit Rane said launching of medical mobile units (MMU) will be the top priority of the government.

The unit is to facilitate access to public healthcare, particularly to people living in remote and unreached areas, said Rane at a function in Usgao on Wednesday.

“The main objective of this concept is to take healthcare to the doorstep of people, particularly rural, vulnerable and under-served areas. MMU services are envisaged to meet the technical and service quality standards for a primary health centre through provision of a suggested package of service,” he said.

Rane has initiated several measures in the public health sector during over the last one year, including improving functioning of the 108 ambulance service.
