UFlex aims to hire 400 employees in next six months

Bengaluru: Flexible packaging materials and solutions company UFlex is looking to hire 400+ people to its team. As part of its global expansion plan, the packaging firm will be hiring these employees across their global plants in the next six months, where a mix of local and expatriates will be employed.

The company is opening new plants in Russia, Nigeria, Hungary and adding a new line in their existing facility in Poland.

In India alone, UFlex has hired over 120 new team members in this fiscal so far, which is an addition of 2% to the existing India workforce numbers. Out of these, around 25 new hires range from mid to senior-level management. The resource spread would be across various functions with expertise in operations, B2B marketing, production, quality control, R&D and supply chain.

“One of the crucial factors to revive the economy globally is to generate more job opportunities. When most companies are either downsizing or halting their recruitment plans due to the pandemic’s aftermath, UFlex hasn’t let the unforeseen situation derail its global expansion plan, and has gone on to hire more people,” Chandan Chattaraj, president–HR, India & Global at UFlex, told ET.

“With increased demand for packaged products in various categories and as a company that caters to a large share of this demand, it has become imperative for us to strengthen our workforce and machineries to keep up with the change in demand that the pandemic has created. With all these factors at play, investment in personnel has become consequential,” he added.

As an organisation listed under Essential Services Maintenance Act, UFlex was one of the first few packaging companies that was able to resume its operations amidst lockdown imposed earlier this year, ensuring that the packaging supply chain to FMCG and the pharmaceutical industry continued.

The company has also been rolling out various initiatives to keep employees safe - from installing disinfectant tunnels to continuous sanitising breaks and following social distancing at the shop-floor and offices.
