Home Ministry allows universities and institutions to hold end-of-term exams

The Ministry of Home Affairs, today, allowed colleges and educational institutions to hold end-of-term exams with adequate safety measures, pending since March due to the lockdown. The ministry today wrote to the Higher Education Secretary, permitting the long pending exams.

"The final Term Examinations are to be compulsorily conducted as per the UGC Guidelines on Examinations and Academic Calendar for the Universities; and as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) approved by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare," read ministry's letter.

In the wake of the pandemic, many states had called for the cancellation of the exams. Maharashtra had said that it would not conduct the exams and the UP government stated that it would announce its decision on July 02.
