Will be chief minister again: Devendra Fadnavis

MUMBAI: There is no end to the debate on the next chief minister of Maharashtra in case the BJP-Sena government comes back to power. On Sunday, CM Devendra Fadnavis reiterated that he would be the next CM.

Addressing the state executive meeting in Mumbai, Fadnavis said: “ I have already said that I will come back as the CM, I won’t be just the BJP CM, I will be the Shiv Sena CM too, I will the CM for Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP) too and also for the RPI (A),” said Fadnavis.

Fadnavis’s assertion is important as Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray’s son, Aaditya, only a day earlier had claimed that the next CM owould be from the Sena and that such a deal was agreed with the BJP brass.

Fadnavis also advised the party cadre not to get in to a tiff with the Sena on who would be occupying the CM’s post. “The people will decide who would be the CM. Our ally (Sena) has a lot of people who keep laying claim on CM’s post We also have some people doing the same,”said Fadnavis.

The CM asked party workers not to be complacent in view of the Lok Sabha poll results where the Congress and NCP were routed. “Every elections are different and we can’t be complacent,” said Fadnavis.

The CM asked party workers not to be despondent as seat talks with the Sena have not begun yet. “Don’t think that since this constituency is going to our ally, we are not going to get the opportunity to contest so why should we work? we haven’t finalised anything yet (on seat sharing),”said Fadnavis.

The BJP’s executive meet also some muscle flexing with party leaders claiming the party could come to power on its own.
