Congress has habit of first abusing me, then EVM: PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who held three public rallies across Kankrej, Patan and Sojitra, lambasted the Congress for allegedly creating impediments in the construction of the Narmada dam. In a veiled attack on Rahul Gandhi, he said Congress leaders carry out yatras with their hands on the shoulder of those who opposed the Sardar Sarovar dam, in an apparent reference to activist Medha Patkar.

"Those who kept Banaskantha thirsty cannot be forgiven," Modi said adding that the Congress has a habit of not taking up projects which do not serve their interest.

Speaking at Saraspur in Ahmedabad on Friday evening, Modi described how India has gained strength and position at the international level during the last eight years and said India today doesn't extend its palms seeking help, but extends a helping hand to others. Dwelling upon the developments in Gujarat, Modi said that "You used to hear about the making of potato chips, now microchips are being manufactured in Gujarat."

Speaking at Patan, Modi said that Congress has started blaming the electronic voting machines (EVM). By this, "one needs to understand that the party has conceded defeat", he said. "Congress' speciality has been that when election is on, abuse Modi and once people cast their votes abuse EVMs," Modi added.

Speaking at Sojitra in Central Gujarat, Modi continued his attack on the Congress stating that their psyche still has the mentality of slavery.

"This is because people from the Congress have worked with the Britishers for a long time. During the Independence struggle, 34-35 small governments were formed. Their policy was divide and rule and instil a slave mentality. Congress used to work with the British and imbibed their bad nature," Modi alleged.
