Vijayendra seeks CM's resignation over 'illegal' allotment of plots in Mysuru to wife

BJP State president BY Vijayendra on Wednesday demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation saying he has misused power to have 14 prime plots in Mysuru unlawfully allotted to his wife Parvathamma in violation of regulations.

Vijayendra threatened to seriously pursue the issue both inside and outside of the Legislature and to get to the bottom of it. The party would see those who committed the scam were held to account. The BJP would hold a demonstration in Mysuru on July 12, he added.

Vijayendra, who represents Shikaripura in the assembly, demanded immediate cancellation of the illegal allotments and a CBI investigation as the state police cannot impartially probe the matter because of the alleged entanglement of the CM in the case.

Tracing back the controversy to 1991, the BJP leader said how the land acquisition work began back then, and came to be bought by Parvathamma's elder brother in 2004. Despite the land being under the Mysore Urban Development Authority’s (MUDA) possession, the sale and subsequent gift deed transactions were carried out, which Vijayendra alleged were fraudulent.

The Jan 12, 2022 sale deed documents showed the MUDA unlawfully allotted 14 plots to Parvathamma under its incentive scheme, instead of two plots she was legally entitled to under the 1991 regulations.

This blatant violation of allotment rules, Vijayendra said, was orchestrated under the guise of compliance with outdated regulations.

He accused the CM of concealing information about his wife owning 3 acre 16 guntas of land in his 2013 election affidavit. The actions of Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh, who rushed to Mysore, held secretive meetings with MUDA officials, and transferred officers looked suspicious and an attempt at cover up.

The Chief Minister, speaking to the media at Mysuru airport, said the BJP was indulging in politics out of a fair allotment of plots to his wife. The MUDA had committed a mistake and allotted the plots to rectify it though his family did not ask for the plots in Vijayanagar, Mysuru.
