This auto ride feels like sitting in a garden

The vehicle’s modification was completed 10 days ago. PUNE: A 45-year-old resident of Raviwar Peth has converted his autorickshaw in a way that gives passengers and onlookers a feel of nature. Ibrahim Ismail Tamboli’s love for nature and concern about climate change is reflected in his vehicle.

“I was attracted to nature from childhood.
We will be wiped off the face of this planet if nature is not conserved. I wanted to transform my autorickshaw in such a way that it would turn heads. People after taking a ride in my vehicle, or after seeing it can understand the importance of green cover and the environment” Tamboli said.

Tamboli has been riding his autorickshaw for the past year. He started working on transforming the vehicle around two months ago.

“I covered the exterior and interior of my vehicle with artificial grass. Even the seats are covered in grass. If passengers sit in my vehicle, they should feel like they are sitting in a garden. I have used pictures of various animals and birds so the passengers can feel as if they are present too. There are also sounds of different animals and birds chirping coming from a sound system,” he said.

Tamboli has also put artificial flowers in his vehicle. “There are also various coloured lights and I have installed a digital sound system which controls it. If a passenger wants a particular colour inside the vehicle, I can adjust it accordingly,” he said.

The vehicle’s modification was completed 10 days ago. “I have done all the work by myself without taking anyone’s help. I spent around Rs25,000 but the money was worth it. People see my autorickshaw and it gives me a good feeling. Wherever I go, my vehicle is noticed. I never refuse a passenger. At the end of each trip, I try to explain the importance of greenery and nature to them,” he said.
