Dignitaries gathered at heritage Rajbari to celebrate Poila Boishakh

The Pathuriaghata Rajbari , also known as Khelat Ghosh’s residence or Ghosh Bari, played host to a mesmerising evening of celebrating Poila Boishakh in honour of Riva Ganguly Das , former secretary east and high commissioner of India in Dhaka.

Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including H.E. Andrew Fleming, British deputy high commissioner in Kolkata; Nicolas Facino, director of Alliance Française Du Bengale; and Minakshi Mishra, zonal head of ICCR Kolkata, among others.
The event witnessed performances by singer Sulagna Banerjee and Arpan Basu. Sulagna captivated the audience with renditions of Tagore’s melodies, while Arpan played Rabindra Sangeet on his violin.

Speaking about preserving the heritage mansion and the reasons behind choosing this location, event host Arijit Datta said, “We deemed this the ideal location to host such a celebration, as Khelat Ghosh himself was enthusiastic about organising cultural evenings here. This beautiful mansion needs to be protected. Our plan is to convert it into a homestay where tourists can come and experience the rich heritage and history of this mansion.”
