Ayesha Jhulka approaches Bombay HC seeking justice for mysterious death of pet dog Rocky

Bollywood actor Ayesha Jhulka has taken her fight for justice to the Bombay High Court following the mysterious death of her pet dog , Rocky . The six-year-old dog was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances at her Lonavala bungalow in September 2020.

Ayesha Jhulka's suspicions were raised due to discrepancies in the account provided by her bungalow's caretaker, Ram Andre, who claimed Rocky drowned in the water tank.
However, a post-mortem report revealed suffocation as the cause of death, prompting the police to file a case against Andre under section 429 of the Indian Penal Code for "mischief by killing or maiming an animal." Andre was arrested and later released on bail.

Frustrated by delays in the trial at the magistrate court in Maval, Pune, despite a chargesheet being filed in 2021, according to the Hindustan Times, Ayesha Jhulka sought legal intervention through her advocate Harshad Garud.

She emphasized the importance of a swift trial, citing the right to a speedy trial as outlined in Article 21 of the Indian Constitution. She also stressed the need for a forensic report, which the police have yet to provide.

During a hearing on Friday, a bench consisting of Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Manjusha Deshpande instructed Jhulka to take the case to a single judge bench for further proceedings, as it was noted that the matter should be heard by a single judge.
