Comedian Tanmay Bhatt on report claiming his net worth is Rs 665 crore: 'Wildly off'

Comedian Tanmay Bhat has reacted to a widely shared news report that estimated his net worth at an astounding Rs 665 cr, which is unprecedented for any comedian in the nation. But is it accurate?


Naturally, there were repercussions when an X user shared a screenshot of a wealth management company claiming that the co-founder of the now-defunct comedy group AIB is the richest content creator in the nation.

Many people expressed their disbelief at the stated figures. With a claimed net worth of Rs 665 cr, Bhat topped the list. Technical Guruji came in second with Rs 356 cr, Bhuvan Bam third with Rs 122 cr, Ranveer Allahbadia fourth with Rs 58 cr, and Ajey Nagar (Carry Minati) fifth with Rs 50 cr.


Journalist Suchin Mehrotra tweeted, “In today’s episode of ‘What’s the point of even getting up in the morning?’… apparently folks like Tanmay Bhat are worth 665 crores.” Responding to his tweet, Tanmay posted a string of laughing emojis, and replied, “I can assure you this number is wildly off – at least for me.”

According to a Business Standard report, Bhat also tweeted that nobody can get Rs 665 crore by sharing memes on social media. He later deleted this tweet.


Many on X expressed the opinion that Bhat's stated net worth was greatly overstated even before he provided clarification on the matter. “The number looks wayyyy off. have they included a methodology? Networth can have really loose definitions,” a user wrote. Another netizen commented, “According to the same FE, Ajay Devgan’s net worth is ~500 cr. And Tanmay Bhat is supposed to be more than that? These numbers deserve the trash bin.”

On the work front, Tanmay Bhat was one of the creatives behind the well-known men's wellness brand ad for Johnny Sins and Ranveer Singh. With more than 1,000 videos, his YouTube page has 4.72 million subscribers.
