Did you know Gautham Menon wanted Mohanlal, Deepika Padukone, and Nana Pateikar to play in 'Vaaranam Aayiram'?

Gautham Menon is one of the most prominent film personalities in South India. Apart from his exceptional directing skills, the actor is also making a name for himself in the acting field. Starting with 'Minnale', the director has created multiple romantic dramas like ' Varanam Aayiram ' and ' Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya ', which are blockbuster hits.

One such perfect film of Gautham Menoen is his 2008 blockbuster, Suriya starrer 'Vaaranam Aayiram'. The movie had Suriya, Sameera Reddy , Simran , and Remya Nambesan in important roles, and the music for it was composed by Harris Jayaraj.

A recent interview with the director went viral on social media last month when he explained that the character Meghna, played by Sameera Reddy, can be totally a hallucination and no one would even be able to find it. Following that, a new video of the director stating that he initially approached other actors to play important roles in the film is making its rounds.

In the video, Gautham is seen stating that he did not like the notion of Suriya playing dual characters as father and son and wanted Mohanlal or Nana Patekar to play Suriya's father and said that Deepika Padukone would have been the apt person to play Meghna but was not able to as she was busy shooting for 'Om Shanti Om'.

This news from the director has shocked the fans, as they find it very interesting and new that Gautham Vasudev Menon had other plans initially for the cast of the film.
