Exclusive - Sara Khan: It's very important to strike a balance between personal and professional life; if one has a lopsided approach, everything goes wrong

Sapna Babul Ka... Bidaai actress Sara Khan says that it is very important to be aware of how much of a difference you can make as a public figure . She says that you must be responsible in your everyday life, and be consistent with what you do.

“Being a public person is inspirational because you stand out in the crowd and are respected by others.
However, you must thus be aware of upholding your public image because you have a set of responsibilities to live up to. However, if we're consistent in what you do, it will automatically stay intact, therefore I don't think you need to actively focus on maintaining it,” she says.

Ask her how she strikes a balance between her professional and private life, she says, “It’s very important to strike a balance between the personal and professional life. If one has a lopsided approach, everything goes wrong. I think that time management is very important. Setting boundaries is very important, Setting priorities in both professional and personal life is very crucial. Most important is maturity and bandwidth to understand that one has to have to maintain all the above. That’s how I maintain balance between the two aspects of my life.”

Talking about how she decides how much to share and how much to keep private on social media, she says, “If something makes us joyful, if it inspires our fans, if it has anything to do with our work, or if it has a message to offer, we should share it. Regarding our personal life, we're just ordinary individuals that adore our fans and have regular conversations like everyone else. We make an effort to make sure that, should others learn from us, we don't send out mixed messages but rather uplift others and maintain our own good outlook. Choosing what to share and what not to share is so important to making sure we convey the correct messages and have a happy attitude.”

However, there is something that she dislikes about being a public figure. “One thing I'd really like to change is how people see us. We're just regular folks, with two hands, two feet, two eyes, and a nose—just like everyone else. Why is there so much pressure to always look perfect? Why do we have to worry so much about our public image and appearance? If one day we want to go out without makeup in our pyjamas, why is that such a big deal? We're normal too, and sometimes we just want to be comfortable. If I could change one thing, it would be people's mindset about this and making a big deal out of this,” she says.
