Jagapathi Babu desires to portray roles other than antagonist characters

Jagapathi Babu , a beloved figure in Indian cinema , has earned widespread acclaim for his portrayal of negative roles and main antagonists.

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, he spoke about his experience portraying negative roles and expressed his thoughts on being typecast. Jagapathi Babu commented on his performances in films such as 'Legend', 'Rangasthalam', and 'Lingaa', noting the range of characters he has played.
He expressed his pleasure at exploring new possibilities and challenging himself in each role, especially while playing good characters like in 'Srimanthudu'.

However, he also expressed concerns about being boxed into a certain type of role. Jagapathi Babu stated about feeling limited by the industry's preference for casting him in negative roles due to their popularity. He expressed a desire for various characters, including positive roles and comedy .


Recognising the industry's role in influencing views, Jagapathi Babu expressed faith that fans and filmmakers will recognise his ability to succeed in a variety of roles beyond the negative persona with which he is frequently recognised. He emphasised the necessity of pursuing new opportunities and avoiding monotony in his work.

Jagapathi Babu is positive about future projects and wants to portray a wider range of characters. Currently, he is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film starring alongside Ayush Sharma 'Ruslaan' which is an action-packed thriller.


Moreover, the 62-year-old actor will also be seen in 'Mr. Bachchan' taking back the negative role opposite Ravi Teja. Additionally, he will be portrayed as the main antagonist in the highly awaited sequel of the year, 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' which has iconic star Allu Arjun in the lead.
