'Jai Ganesh' box office collection day 1: Unni Mukundan starrer gets a lukewarm response

Unni Mukundan starrer ‘ Jai Ganesh ’ hit the big screens on Thursday, April 11, along with other Malayalam releases - ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ and ‘Aavesham’. ‘Jai Ganesh’, directed by Ranjith Sankar , revolves around Ganesh, a graphic artist, who is paraplegic.

Though the film was expected to be a major player among the Eid-Vishu releases from Malayalam, the opening-day collection reports suggest otherwise.

According to a report by Sacnilk, Unni Mukundan’s Jai Ganesh only minted Rs 40 lakh in India net collection. The worldwide box office collection stands at Rs 45 lakh.

The film had an occupancy of 29.14 % according to a report by What the fuss.

A forum named Kerala Box Office on X (formerly Twitter) suggests that the film’s Kerala gross collection stands at Rs 54 lakh. “#JaiGanesh day 1 Kerala gross - ₹54 Lakhs ~ Strictly needs a stronghold in the coming days to survive from the BOX OFFICE! Reviews are good, especially from the family audience,” the post reads.

The weekend collection, especially on Sunday, for the occasion of Vishu is crucial for ‘Jai Ganesh’ and all the other releases.

Fahadh Faasil ’s ‘Aavesham’ is leading the box office among the Eid-Vishu Malayalam releases. The film directed by Jithu Madhavan has reportedly minted Rs 3.8 crore from India on the opening day. The film also recorded an overall occupancy of 73.57 % on the first day.

Vineeth Sreenivasan ’s directorial ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ is next in line, as the multi-starrer managed to make Rs 2.8 crore on the initial day.
