Kalki 2898 AD: Prabhas and Deepika Padukone kick off countdown to BIG announcement amidst rumours of June 27 release date

The moment fans have all been waiting for is finally here! Prabhas and Deepika Padukone have officially begun the countdown to their big announcement scheduled to take place at 5 pm on Saturday.

Dropping a new poster of Prabhas with a weapon in his hands, the makers teased fans in a post that read, "The Final Countdown! Stay tuned to 5 PM today."

Speculations have been rife regarding the nature of this announcement, with speculations ranging from a release date announcement to a trailer release or even a first-look clip of the lead characters.

Interestingly, this announcement comes amidst swirling rumours that the team has locked in a June 27 release date.

If there is any truth to the rumours, then the film will be released in cinemas, exactly 2 months from today. The Nag Ashwin directorial was initially scheduled to release on May 9, however, delays in production allegedly pushed back the release of the film.

The buzz surrounding the upcoming sci-fi film reached a fever pitch after the team unveiled the first look of Amitabh Bachchan 's character, Ashwatthama.

The film boasts a star-studded cast which also stars Kamal Haasan , Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani , and many others. Music composer Santhosh Narayanan is set to work his magic on the film, while the visuals will be handled by cinematographer Djordje Stojiljkovic.
