On April 29, the official Instagram page of Disney dropped the clip, which gives us a glimpse of the new work of young Mufasa and his sibling Scar. Aaron Pierre voices the new Mufasa, a role previously voiced by James Earl Jones. The voiceover starts, “This story begins far beyond the mountains and the shadows, on the other side of the light. A lion was born without a drop of nobility in his blood. A lion who would change our lives forever.”

The video features a large meadow where giraffes, hippos, elephants, and lions coexist, along with a stark, icy landscape. The clip ends with the dialogue “Destiny awaits you”.

In ‘Mufasa,’ Kelvin Harrison Jr. steps into the role of Taka, a young lion prince who embraces Mufasa as a brother in his family. Tiffany Boone takes on the role of Sarabi, while Mads Mikkelsen portrays Kiros, a powerful lion with ambitious plans for his pride.

Returning from the 2019 live-action remake are familiar faces, with John Kani reprising his role as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Donald Glover as Simba, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala. Excitingly, the latest addition to the ensemble cast is none other than Blue Ivy Carter , daughter of Beyoncé, making her acting debut as Kiara, the offspring of King Simba and Queen Nala. The Oscar-winning director of ‘Moonlight,’ Barry Jenkins, is helming the project.

Originally released in 1994 and directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, ‘The Lion King’ remains one of Disney's most cherished animated classics, earning two Academy Awards. Its legacy includes two sequels and a successful Broadway adaptation. The 2019 live-action remake, directed by Jon Favreau, soared to global success, grossing over $1.6 billion worldwide.
