Radhika Sarathkumar , the versatile actor who made her mark in both Hindi and South Indian cinema , has had a fascinating journey from the silver screen to active politics .

Radhika's cinematic journey began with her appearance in the 1978 Tamil movie Kizhakke Pogum Rail. She went on to work in numerous regional films in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, showcasing her talent and versatility as an actress.
Her contributions to Tamil cinema were particularly notable, with films like 'Meendum Oru Kaathal Kathai' earning critical acclaim and prestigious awards like the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director.

In 1986, Radhika ventured into Hindi cinema with the family drama ' Naseeb Apna Apna ', starring alongside Rishi Kapoor and Farah Naaz . Despite sharing the screen with Bollywood stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff , Shatrughan Sinha, and Jeetendra, her Hindi film career did not soar as expected. However, her impactful performances in South Indian films garnered her immense recognition and accolades.


Radhika's personal life also saw transitions. She got married to Malayalam actor-producer Pratap Pothen in 1985 but later remarried British national Richard Hardy. In 2001, she tied the knot with Sarathkumar Ranganathan, a former bodybuilder, actor-filmmaker, and politician.


As an active member of the film fraternity, Radhika earned recognition for her role in ' Nyayam Kavali '(1981) 'Dharma Devathai' (1986), 'Neethikku Thandanai' (1987), and 'Keladi Kanmani'(1990).

Radhika joined politics with her husband Sarathkumar. However, she later resigned from the party . In the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Radhika will contest from the Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituency .
