Sanjay Leela Bhansali reveals why he portrays strong female characters at 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' retrospective in LA: 'I am from a land where we worship Goddesses'

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently amazed people in Los Angeles as he showcased a special collection of his work at the Aero Theatre. This event transformed the theater into a realm reminiscent of Bhansali's movies, particularly prominent with his recent film, Gangubai Kathiawadi .
The American Cinematheque organised this event at the Aero Theatre, drawing in numerous movie lovers eager to experience the magic of Bhansali's films.
The screening of Gangubai Kathiawadi was a full-house affair.

Following the screening of Gangubai Kathiawadi, attendees were treated to a sneak peek into Bhansali’s upcoming web series, ' Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar .' The audience eagerly anticipated scenes that have yet to be released, gaining a glimpse into what Bhansali has in store for them next. Additionally, there was an engaging discussion with the director, during which he shared his insights on filmmaking.

SLB explained why he portrays strong female characters in his films. He said that he is from a land where all worship the Goddess. He has had some very strong women in his life, so women need to be heard, need to be seen, and their stories need to be told. According to him, they are the creators of mankind, and all are born to womankind.


Recently, the movie premiered in India with a star-studded event attended by celebrities such as Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Rekha, and Genelia Deshmukh .
