The new ‘Lois Lane’ opens up about her role in the filmRachel Brosnahan can be seen on the screen as Lois, Superman’s love interest, and recently, in an interview with Hindustan Times, talked about what the character entailed for her. She shared that one of the biggest factors that made her accept the role was the sense of urgency it had.
“One of the reasons why these characters have endured everything in this story and I suppose all superhero or fantasy stories, is because they show us that it might be possible that there are aliens with superpowers who want to join humanity and other superheroes who can save us, but that there are everyday superheroes who walk among us. As a journalist, Lois is one of those people”, the star shared during the interview while talking about her decision to accept the role.
She even added that such roles have an odd way of bringing hope and peace to the people. She shared that “These stories encourage all of us to find that courage, the strength to explore what it means to be human and how we can bring that shot in the arm of hope into our real world”.
She added a unique perspective on the importance of the ‘human’ characters on the screen, sharing that “Lois and characters like Jimmy and the rest of the Daily Planet crew, and even Lex in some way, are the audience's way into the world too”.
Becoming the torchbearer for ‘Lois Lane’Brosnahan also talked about taking on the ‘responsibility’ of the iconic character. She shared that while it is a huge deal if a person starts overthinking about the responsibility they have over such an iconic character, there are chances that the pressure will start getting to them. “We're taking the responsibility seriously, and it feels like theatre sometimes. These characters have been portrayed in animation, been drawn by so many brilliant artists, and have been played by other actors”, the actress added.
“But we also feel a great responsibility to the fans who have loved these characters for generations. So, there is a responsibility, but at some point, all we can do is trust in our writer and director, do our homework, and show up and try to do our best”, she finished her comment on the importance of Lois Lane’s character and taking over the title.
Rachel talks about her Indian fansDuring the interview, Rachel expressed her gratefulness towards her Indian fan base as well. She shared how she is even looking forward to getting her hands on the opportunity of starring in an Indian film herself! She shared during the interview, “It would be such a great honour. We talked all the time working on The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel about Bollywood films. We drew inspiration from the colour and the movement. So, it would be a dream”.
