This is how LinkedIn is fighting job scams

LinkedIn has released new verification features to assure job seekers that they are dealing with genuine companies and job opportunities. Additionally, the social media platform has introduced alerts for suspicious messages in response to a recent increase in fake accounts on the site.

There is a type of verification tool that provides information about job postings, including details about the posters and their respective companies.
This tool can verify the authenticity of a company page, the job poster's work email, and whether their government ID was verified by CLEAR, a company that offers expedited security services at airports and other venues.

LinkedIn verification, About This Profile, and more to prevent job scams

"When you see verifications on job posts, that means there is information that has been verified as authentic by the job poster, LinkedIn or one of our partners," the company wrote in a blog post.

You can verify your identity with CLEAR for free, but it's necessary to provide a US phone number and government ID. Alternatively, you can confirm your employer by receiving a verification code on your company email address. Some users may also be able to verify both their identity and employer through Microsoft Entra, if their company is enrolled in the program.

To access this feature, log in to your iOS or Android app and enable it. Additionally, users can benefit from various identity verification options, allowing organisations to create customised digital employee identification tags that reflect their brand and specific needs. This opens up opportunities for numerous people and organisations to participate.

For those who prefer to work independently, they can verify their identity by allowing the app to send a code to their company email ID. This helps prevent job scams in today's world.

Currently, the feature is available to over 4000 organisations and will expand over time to increase confidence in making connections and seeing authentic content daily.

LinkedIn has also introduced a new feature called "About This Profile" that displays the creation and last update date of a profile, as well as whether it has a verified phone number and work email. This feature aims to identify fake accounts. Additionally, LinkedIn is providing users with warning messages about high-risk content to ensure a safe and secure experience.
