Zomato re-introduces Gold subscription, discounted delivery and dining return

Zomato Gold has made a comeback after being discontinued almost two years ago. The rollout comes right after founder-CEO Deepinder Goyal announced Gold’s return on his Twitter account. Opting for a concise approach, he tweeted the words “Back Soon!” with a Zomato Gold GIF.

Zomato Gold membership: Benefits, availability, and price
Zomato Gold members get discounts on food delivery and dining orders made via the app. Moreover, subscribers also enjoy free deliveries at restaurants within 10kms, given their order value is above Rs 299.

Although Zomato Gold has rolled out, it is an invitation-only subscription right now. Certain users who have an active Zomato Pro subscription are getting a 3-month Zomato Gold membership.

The Zomato Gold subscription costs Rs 149 for three months, after a discount on its original price Rs 999 for the same duration.

Notably, the bundled Zomato Pro subscription of Zomato Edition credit card holders will expire by February 23. Once that privilege ends, they will get a free Zomato Gold subscription for three months.

Zomato Gold makes a return after more than two years
Zomato Gold subscription was axed in favour of Zomato Pro back in June 2020. Another tier, Zomato Pro Plus, was also made available. Both these tiers were scrapped not too long ago, in November 2022.

The return of Zomato Gold is in line with the company’s announcement during a recent earnings call. Talking about Zomato’s strategy for loyalty-based programmes, CFO Akshant Goyal, had said “On loyalty programmes, we are aware of what the competition is doing, and we had one of our own, which we discontinued. It’s a business call. There are pros and cons of the kind of loyalty programme that is out there in the market today.” Moreover, he had revealed the food delivery giant was working on “something more differentiated.”
