Rahman opens his mouth

Rahman the music legend is one person who never comments on things happening. But this time he chose to speak out. He was pained by the way the movies were chosen for Oscars.

He was of the opinion that the choice for the Oscars was wrong. Rahman was a man who always kept quite on things and never made any statements.

He spoke through his music. But this time after Naatu Naatu won the Oscar he made this statement against the selection of movies for the Oscars.

Rahman said: Sometimes, I see that our movies go till the Oscar… they don’t get it. Wrong movies are being sent for the Oscars. And I am just like DON’T.

We have to be in another person’s shoes. I have to be in Westerner’s shoes to see what’s happening here. I have to be in my shoes to see what they are doing.’

India’s official entry was a Gujarati film Chhello show (The Last Show). RRR was among the frontrunners for nominations but was not included as an official entry in the Best Foreign Film category.

AR Rahman won an Oscar in 2009 for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for the film Slumdog Millionaire along with composer Gulzar at the 81st Academy Awards.
