EKSA has an eleven-year history of manufacturing and developing robust and affordable headsets for gamers.
But as the popularity of truly wireless earbuds keeps growing, due to the increase of portable gaming, it was inevitable that EKSA would enter that market.
Breaking away from their traditional gaming headset products EKSA want to share with the world their latest product the EKSA GT1 Cobra True Wireless Gaming earbuds.
EKSA’s GT1 Cobra has a really daring design that not only looks innovative but lives up to its reptilian name.
It may not be painstakingly obvious but EKSA's chosen aesthetic resembles that of a snake.
The charging case looks like a mechanical Cobra head with a light-up charging indicator that looks like teeth.
The brazen design is very clever and definitely geared to gamers with cyan charging indicators being a nice touch.
The earbuds themselves follow the snake theme and look like mini Cobras. They have a thick long stem that's decorated with markings and ridges to mirror their reptile counterpart.
But what completes its aesthetic is the led light which looks like the menacing predators' eyes.
The ear tips feel really comfortable without being too invasive over long periods of gaming.
They also come with two extra sets of ear tips to control your noise isolation. EKSA have done a stellar job at crafting an earbud with arresting features that feels really satisfying in your ears.
They come with an IPX4 rating which means they are resistant to rain or sweat but just don’t go swimming with them. But they can double up as your exercise earbuds.
EKSA’s GT1 Cobra also comes with exquisite touch controls which shouldn’t come as a surprise, but there are still a lot of higher priced earbuds that don’t include them.
The simple touch controls give you almost full autonomy over the earbuds. They allow you to switch between music and game mode, control your music and even work when taking calls.
The only letdown is that they don’t allow you to control the volume which for some reason is becoming a common omission for wireless earbuds.
But this can be overlooked as they cover most of the main features and feel very responsive. The GT1 Cobra comes with two different audio modes, music and game, however, the quality doesn’t really change on either.
The audio is generally quite clean but a faint hum can be heard at times. The 10mm drivers help give the bass a slight boost but it still sounds less than the average, even on bass-heavy games or songs.
The mids and trebles sound nice but not as detailed compared to other earbuds on the market. The only slight difference when switching to game mode is that the GT1 Cobra picks more subtle details during gaming.
A big selling point of the GT1 Cobra is the 38MS ultra-low latency which helps with reducing audio lag.
Playing games in both modes you can notice the lag improve in the gaming mode but, I feel most casual gamers won’t really notice the difference.
The earbuds come with 36 hours of battery life, as the earbuds hold 6 hours of continuous playtime on a single charge and 30 hours of extra playtime in the case. Making them a good companion on gaming sessions.
There was no problem connecting them with my mobile and Nintendo Switch via the Bluetooth Version: 5.0, however, these are not compatible with Playstation 5 or any of the Xbox consoles.
I do really think the gaming earbuds should come with a dongle just to give gamers more console options, but nonetheless, I was able to sync with my TV and play that way, you just won’t have access to the amazing 3D audio on the Playstation 5.Verdict
The EKSA GT1 Cobra True Wireless Gaming earbud is a nice device at an affordable price. The fun futuristic design is fully welcomed.
The audio quality could be slightly improved in certain areas but at the same time, they are good for the price.
EKSA first earbuds are an admirable first venture into an increasingly popular market.
