Kerry Katona hits out at 'unnatural' Love Island as she eyes up hosting job

Kerry Katona has shared her views on the current series of Love Island and it's safe to say she isn't enjoying the programme as much as others.

The former singer, 42, has never shied away from sharing what's on her mind and her latest outburst is no different.

It comes just days after

ITV announced they would be launching a rival to the ITV2 dating programme with the intention of helping older people find their true love.

While Davina McCall has been extremely vocal about wanting to front a similar show, it appears Kerry also has her eyes set on the job and believes she would be the right person.

Kerry has her eyes set on a different version of Love Island

She said: "There is talk about a middle-aged Love Island, called The Romance Retreat, coming to ITV – and I think it’s such a good idea.

"Kelly Brook has begged ITV to let her host it, but I want to put myself forward."

Continuing to write in her column for OK! Magazine, Kerry added: "I think I'd do an amazing job hosting it, I also have life experience and kids – part of the show's format is that it's the grown-up children who put their single parents forwards!

"I'd love to watch people my age fall in love – Love Island is like a kid's show now, it doesn't feel natural."

In the past, Kerry revealed to The Mirror that she would love her daughter Lily to apply for Love Island in order to push the boundaries

She added: "Lilly is not a girly girl in that respect, I think so many kids, especially my Heidi are messed up from the image that Love Island portrays.

"I want a girl in there who doesn't care about hair and makeup, has wobbly bits and can have a joke and drink beer from a can.

"I said to Heidi 'what do you want to be?' and she said 'I want to be Molly-Mae [Hague]', all these young girls are starting to look the same."

ITV put an official call out for "vibrant single parents across the UK who are in search of love," as part of their selection for The Romance Retreat.

The show which is believed to be in early development will see those on the hunt for love make their way to a luxurious villa in a bid to find their forever partner.

However, the location of the stunning villa is yet to be disclosed.

Although the idea of the show is similar to Love Island, it has not been confirmed whether the winners will get their hands on a large cash sum.

The casting announcement for the show read: "This is the ONLY dating show where single parents can search for love, by spending time in a luxury retreat, where all the parents have been nominated by their grown-up children."
