aṣṭadalō parivēṣṭita liṅgaṁ

suragurusuravara pūjita liṅgaṁ
suravanapuṣpa sadārcita liṅgam |
parāmapadam paramātmaka liṅgaṁ
tatpraṇamāmi sadā śiva liṅgam || 8 ||

liṅgāṣṭakamidaṁ puṇyaṁ yaḥ paṭēcchiva sannidhau |
śivalōkamavāpnōti śivēna saha mōdatē ||

This eight-verse prayer describes the glory of the Lingam, a symbol of Lord Shiva. It extols various attributes of Lord Shiva and expresses devotion to Him. It is believed that reciting Lingashtakam during worship near Lord Shiva brings blessings and fulfills desires.
