Fake BoI employee dupes man of Rs 20,000 in Hudkeshwar

Nagpur: A con man posing as an employee of Bank of India duped a 41-year old person by procuring Credit Card details and making online purchase worth Rs 20,000.

A resident of Plot No. 273, Jawahar Nagar, in Hudkeshwar area, Kanchan Bhavaniprasad Chaubey (41), in his complaint told police that he received a phone call on January 17 from mobile 7084890393 and the caller posed himself as an employee of Bank of India.

The fake BoI employee further told Kanchan that a voucher of Rs 5,000 will come to his house and hence sought details of his Credit Card and OTP number. Believing the caller to be Bank of India employee, Kanchan divulged all the details of Credit Card and OTP number. The con man, once in possession of all details, made online purchase worth Rs 20,000 and cheated Kanchan.

Hudkeshwar API Moley registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC read with Section 66(C)(D) of Information Technology Act and launched a search to nab the bogus employee of Bank of India.
