Keeping in mind the increasing case of Corono virus, the Government of Himachal Pradesh has announced the closure of all educational institutions in the state till May 1. According to media reports, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has issued new orders while presiding over a meeting to review the Kovid-19 situation.

The Chief Minister has said that faculty in schools, colleges and universities are not required to come on their duty.

The CM said that some more important decisions will be taken at the state cabinet meeting on April 22 to prevent the spread of infection in the state. Before that, the Himachal government had announced the closure of all schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the state till April 21, in view of the increasing case of infection. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.

At the same time, earlier the state government had ordered the closure of all educational institutions by April 15 in view of the increase in epidemic cases. However, in the previous order, the government had said that teachers and non-teaching staff would continue to visit the institutes. At the same time, students preparing for the near examination were allowed to come to the school for guidance with the consent of their parents. Apart from this, it was also allowed to conduct classes in coaching centers and nursing, medical and dental colleges preparing for competitive examinations.

However, the order of 9 April said that all educational institutions including coaching centers, schools and colleges would remain closed till 21 April. Significantly, amid the growing case of epidemic, many states, union territories have closed all educational institutions including schools, colleges, universities.
