Financial hurdles delay Ranveer Singh-Aditya Dhar's action thriller: Report

In March, it was reported that Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh will collaborate on an action-thriller.

Alas, we will have to wait longer to see this association fructify.

The untitled project has reportedly hit a financial roadblock and will no longer begin in Summer 2024, as planned originally.

The film, envisioned as a grand action thriller set against the backdrop of politics and gang wars, requires substantial funding that currently doesn't align with their studio partner's budget.

Script revision underway amid budgetary concerns
Script changes

In response to the financial constraints, director Dhar is reportedly revising the script and scaling back some action scenes to fit within a specific budget.

An insider told Bollywood Hungama, "The market is not lucrative as the digital streaming market has come down in the last 2 years."

"With films not fetching the requisite value of digital rights, the studios have asked a lot of directors to rework their budgets."

Earlier, Pinkvilla had reported, "The film is set against the backdrop of Indian Intelligence Agencies and will see Ranveer in a completely new avatar—it's a real, heroic, and larger-than-life world."

"It was an instant yes from Ranveer. He heard the script and got all charged up to be a part of Dhar's world in the first meeting itself. The film has just come together organically in the forefront for Ranveer."

Singh, last seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, will next be seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again, which may release on August 15.

The multistarrer also features Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff.

Additionally, he has Don 3 and Shaktimaan in the pipeline.

Kiara Advani will join him in the former film directed by Farhan Akhtar.
