Renowned Malayalam actor Siddique is set to join the cast of Vikram's upcoming film, Veera Dheera Sooran.

The film's creators officially announced his participation by unveiling a poster on Sunday.

This marks the first on-screen pairing of Vikram and Siddique, stirring anticipation among fans for more details about Siddique's character.

Announced recently on Vikram's 58th birthday, the film is directed by SU Arun.

A prominent figure in Malayalam cinema, Siddique is also no stranger to the Tamil film industry, having made his Kollywood debut in 1996 with Subash, starring Arjun Sarja. His most recent Tamil outing was in the Jiiva-led 2022 romance comedy Varalaru Mukkiyam. Alongside Siddique, another Malayalam actor, Suraj Venjaramoodu, will be joining Vikram-SU's forthcoming venture. Going by the poster, it seems Siddique will play a negative role.

Meanwhile, per reports, the director plans to shoot Veera Dheera Sooran in two consecutive segments, a method similar to Mani Ratnam's approach for his epic Ponniyin Selvan .

Vikram to portray Kaali—a gangster!
Character details

From the title release video, it's evident that Vikram will portray a fearless gangster named Kaali.

The four-minute-long teaser opens with a voiceover discussing a notorious location, avoided by locals due to a past incident.

As a gang approaches Vikram's character near a supermarket, he responds with gunfire.

Apart from Vikram, the action-packed drama also features Dushara Vijayan, and SJ Suryah in significant roles.

Upcoming ventures

Vikram's upcoming project is Thangalaan—directed by Pa Ranjith—which promises to unveil "the real story" behind the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Karnataka.

According to a note shared by the makers, the film will shed light on why India was referred to as the "sone ki chidiya" (golden bird) by the British.

Earlier announced on Pongal, Thangalaan was initially slated for release in April.

However, the new date hasn't been announced yet.
