Dominic West, renowned for his role in the Showtime series The Affair, has publicly supported Ruth Wilson's criticisms of the show.

The two actors were part of the series that started in 2014, exploring the aftermath of an extramarital affair between two couples.

West recently acknowledged Wilson's comment and stated that he supported her, saying, "We talked a lot about it, and I suppose I did experience it."

Set Discomfort

Wilson, who was absent from the final season of The Affair, had previously voiced her discomfort on set.

In 2020, amid speculation of signing an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) upon departure, she described instances filled with "a lot of noise and anger" and confessed to "feeling unsafe at times during filming."

Wilson specifically raised concerns about sex scenes, noting that the cameras always focused on her "orgasm face," not male actors."

Despite an NDA, Wilson's dissatisfaction with her role became public, allegedly leading to disagreements with showrunner Sarah Treem.

In response to these allegations, Treem wrote an open letter denying any creation of a hostile work environment.

She stated, "On a continuous basis throughout Ruth's time on the show, I tried to protect her and shoot sex scenes safely and respectfully."

To note, Wilson's revelations followed crew claims of her considering departure due to explicit scene's requirements.

West pitched in

In an interview with The Times of London, West initially hesitated to delve into the discussion but eventually lent his support to Wilson.

He stated, "I don't really like talking about it but...yeah, everything Ruth has said is absolutely right."

West, who gained fame for his role as maverick policeman McNulty in The Wire, appeared in all five seasons of the hit Showtime drama.

However, his co-star Wilson was written out of the series after just four seasons.

In the same interview, West also shared insights into his personal life.

He discussed finding humor in the media uproar following images that seemed to depict him kissing his Pursuit of Love co-star Lily James.

He stated, "I hesitate to speak on my wife's behalf because it was obviously horrible, particularly for her."

West—also known for playing Prince Charles in Netflix's The Crown—will be appearing next in a play at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from May 22.
