Union Minister Nitin Gadkari fainted while delivering a speech in Yavatmal, Maharashtra, on Wednesday afternoon.

According to reports, the 66-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader suddenly started feeling dizzy while delivering a speech and fell.

His party colleagues quickly caught him and immediately sought medical assistance.

At the time of the incident, Gadkari was campaigning for Rajashree Patil, a candidate affiliated with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena.

Patil, for whom Gadkari was campaigning, is the chosen candidate of the ruling Mahayuti alliance for the Yavatmal-Washim Lok Sabha seat.

The constituency is one of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra.

Yavatmal, along with Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Hingoli, Nanded, and Parbhani in Maharashtra, are set to vote in the second phase of the Lok Sabha election on Friday (April 26).

Gadkari's constituency, Nagpur, voted in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19.

Gadkari first won Nagpur in 2014 with 2,84,848 votes. He repeated the victory in 2019, when the constituency recorded 54.74% voter turnout, and is seeking luck for the third time in 2024.

The 2024 general elections in Maharashtra are being conducted in five phases on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20.
