In yet another incident which raises questions on women's safety in the nation, an employee of an MNC in Gurugram was booked for allegedly raping and blackmailing his colleague.

A case was registered on Monday after the 24-year-old victim, who is a Delhi resident, approached the police.

Police said the accused is at large and efforts are on to nab him.

Here's what happened.

In her complaint, the victim said she knew the 25-year-old accused since last year. In September 2018, he proposed her for marriage but the victim refused.

Thereafter, he started building pressure on her. He told her he would either "slash his wrist" or "smash his head" if the victim doesn't befriend him.

Eventually, the woman gave in and started talking to him.

In the last week of February, the accused called the victim to his house in Sohna Road, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

"He told her that he wanted to marry her and asked her to speak to her parents about him. He also made a video of the act without her knowledge," said Aman Yadav, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sadar).

Further, the victim said the accused showed her the video in the office on Friday. Shocked after seeing the clip, she blocked the accused on WhatsApp.

The accused then came to her house and asked her to unblock him. When the woman refused, he called her father and told him about the "relationship".

He told her father he would "malign" her reputation.


Accused has been booked for rape and criminal intimidation

The victim revealed the accused got her address and father's number from the company's records. Subsequently, a case has been registered under IPC Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) at the Sadar police station.
