Landlord attacks Delhi man following dispute; thrashes his horse

In Delhi, India's crime capital, disputes can often take a turn for the worst.

Recently, in South Delhi, a dispute led to a man being attacked by his landlord, who was joined by a group of assailants, the police said.

However, the assailants did not stop with the man and also targeted a horse that belonged to him.

Here's what happened.

According to PTI, the victim, Angad Sahlot, was attacked by the group in South Delhi's Fatehpur Beri on Sunday.

The attackers included the landlord of the Fatehpur Beri farm where Sahlot lives with his horses and cows.

The landlord and others also injured Sahlot's horse, the police said.

Reportedly, Sahlot had been facing disputes with his landlord for some time now.

Police action


The police have now registered a case against the assailants under Section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur, they have arrested one of the accused in connection with the crime and are on the lookout for others.

The DCP added that the animals at the farm are alright.

Other incident


Notably, this is not the first such case.

In September, a landlord and his family attacked their 44-year-old widowed tenant in Mehrauli, Delhi.

The victim, Manju Goel, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries.

Reportedly, the landlord, Satish Pahwa, suspected that Goel had committed theft and thrashed her. Pahwa then stole Rs. 60,000 from Goel's rented accommodation, that she had saved for her daughter's education.
