Honda Car India has closed the production of Brio Hatchback in India. Honda Brio was the entry-level hatchback of the company. The company had introduced its facelift version in 2016, but there was no growth in sales. Now Amaze is Honda's entry level car for the Indian market.
Speak to PTI, Rajesh Goyal, Senior Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing of Honda Cars India said, "Now Amaze is our entry level car. We have stopped production of Brio and currently we do not intend to bring next generation Brio to the Indian market. "
Trend has changed in India over the past few years. SUVs and all 4M sedan are being liked more. It can be understood by the feedback received by Amaze. After launch, more than 63,000 units of New Generation model have been sold within a year, and this figure is increasing. Customers have started moving towards comparatively larger models, which are similar to other global markets.
At present, instead of Honda Brio hatchback and any other model will not be available in the market. Amaze will be the entry level car of the company in India.
Rajesh Goyal said that no replacement will be brought for Honda Brio at this time. Goyal said, "Amaze is going to be our entry-level model in the Indian market. Jazz and WR-V are two other models that will meet the needs of the small car.
Honda Brio was launched in India in September 2011 and so far 97,000 units have been sold. Honda had already told about its plans during the 2018 auto expo that the company will launch 6 new cars by 2020. The company has removed two of these new Amaze and the new CR-V. The next car which will be launched in the Indian market will be a new civic. It can be launched by March this year.
