Pakistan: Three-day visit of Iranian President ends, bilateral discussions on many issues including trade-energy

Iranian President Syed Ibrahim Raisi's three-day visit to Pakistan ended on Wednesday. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry termed his visit as meaningful and said that discussions on many issues, and bilateral talks in other areas including trade and energy proved to be very effective. This was the first visit of any foreign leader after the elections held on February 8 in Pakistan.

During his three-day visit, Iranian President Raisi met Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief Asim Munir, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Chief Ministers and Governors of Sindh and Punjab provinces.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan, it was said that meaningful discussions were held between the two sides. Bilateral talks were held on trade, energy, connectivity, people-to-people contacts and other issues. According to local media, President Raisi also visited Lahore and Karachi. During this, he was accompanied by his wife, a high-level team including the External Affairs Minister, other cabinet ministers, senior officials, and a large business delegation.


Let us tell you that the Iranian President reached Islamabad on April 22, where he was welcomed by Housing Minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Pakistan's Ambassador to Iran Mudassar Tipu. He said that he did not feel alienated in Pakistan. President Raisi said that the people of Pakistan have a special attachment to Iran. He expressed that he wanted to organize a public meeting in Pakistan, but due to some reasons, it was not possible.
