A water bust caused a building to collapse in Sadar Bazar

In Delhi’s Sadar Bazar, a blast has caused a building to collapse and killed 1 with 3 serving injuries. Police suspect the blast as a cause of a water pipe bursting out in the building. A 35-year-old man died in the incident at a shop in new parking on Saturday evening.

The blast took place around 6 pm in Sadar causing the collapse of the building after which the fire department was informed.

As per the department, they said that they have received the initial call at around 6:30 pm from Sadar saying “at around 6 pm I heard a loud blast while I was sitting inside my shop. I can't say whether the blast was in the water motor or elsewhere”. After which 2 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

An explosion, believed to have originated from a water pipe, caused the building's stairs to collapse. "At first glance, it appears to be from a water main explosion. No soot, fire, pellets, or chemical odors were observed," police said. The crime team and forensic team officials will inspect the building, looking into the three floors covered with the ground floor too.

“Prima facie, it seems to be from a blast caused by the water pipe. No soot or fire or pellets or smell of any chemical observed, Crime & FSL teams on their way to the site”, says Police. The incident occurred at Shop No. 872 of Qutub Road.

Gulab aged 35 a resident of Sitamarhi, Bihar was rushed to the Hindu Rao Hospital in an emergency where he capitulated to his injuries on Saturday night. Where the blast has occurred was the shop of a women name Pinky Agrawal, who used to sell clothes on the ground floor of the collapsed building.
