Guru Gobind Singh's birth anniversary today

The main purpose of establishing the Sikh sect was to protect Hindus from Mughal invaders. This sect has saved India from the Mughals and the British on many important occasions. Ten Gurus of the Sikhs are considered, the last of which was Guru Gobind Singh. The founder of The Khalsa Panth, Tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji was also a great freedom fighter and poet.

Guru Gobind Singh ji is still an inspiration for all for his sacrifice and valour.

Guru Gobind Singh is considered an important Guru of the Sikhs. His biggest feature was his bravery. The words given by him , '1.25 lakh se ek ladoon' still describe his bravery. According to him, one Sikh is equivalent to 1.25 lakh people in terms of strength and valour. Guru Gobind Singh was born on 7th 1666 in Patna in the house of Mata Gujri Ji and father Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. At that time Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was in Bengal. According to him, the child was named Govind Rai and on the day of Baisakhi in 1699, Guruji became Guru Gobind Singh ji from Govind Rai. His childhood was spent in Patna, Bihar. When Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was martyred while protecting Hinduism in Delhi in 1675, Guru Gobind Sahib ji sat on guru's throne. The acquittal of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, sons of Guru Gobind Singh, are exemplary examples of valour and sacrifice. Only a Mahatma can do that Guru Gobind Singh struggled to remain steadfast in this entire episode.

In his last days, Guru Gobind Singh ji gathered all his Sikhs and taught them to behave decently and well- done, love the country and always help the downtrodden. After this, he also said that there will be no incarnate Guru after him and 'Guru Granth Sahib' will further guide him as the Guru of the Sikhs. Guru Gobind Singh died on October 7, 1708, in Nanded, Maharashtra.
