Kerala: Pinarayi Vijayan accuses BJP of appeasement of Christians

Kannur: Pinarayi Vijayan, the chief minister of Kerala, slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  accusing the party of appeasing the Christian minority.

The BJP is working hard to appease some religious leaders from the minority group, he said.

Speaking ina public meeting at Kannur, Christians are a minority, what is the situation in the country? What about the attacks the Christian Community has to encounter? Do not you remember the incident when graham stein and his two children are burnt to death.

What attacks took place in our neighbouring state of Karnataka. We learned about the events in Chhattisgarh during Christmastime last year. All of this was done by Sangh Parivar. Other states don't have the same vibe as Kerala does. Kerala is a secular nation. No compromise to any form of communalism is made here. Yet in other states, things are different. Sadly, Sangh Parivar is making a lot of effort to placate some religious leaders from the minority community, he said.

He said, the BJP has been in contact with a few religious figures from the minority community with elections in mind. "We witnessed the Christian community's demonstration in Delhi. Was not the central government the target of the protest? But there will be certain people who will fall into techniques. Such individuals lack common sentiments. Keralans generally agree that secularism should be safeguarded. Preservation of secularism necessitates vehement opposition to communalism, said the Chief Minister.

He went on to say, his government upholds Kerala's widespread belief in secularism. He made it clear that Kerala is not a state where the BJP can simply forward its agenda. "The Sangh Parivar or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is the biggest example of communalism. BJP is their political party. They desire to rule everywhere. But it's not that simple, he siad.
