Sunil Chhetri will remain in the Indian team as long as he is fit - Coach Stimack

The head coach of India's football team, Igor Steimack, said that in the last two matches of the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers, the team was not able to perform well due to injury to the top players at the wrong time. India are almost out of the race for a place in the third round of the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers after losing 0-1 to Oman at home.

Steamac said, "Our Indian team's defeat in the last two matches is certainly disappointing, but it has not diminished our confidence and confidence in us at all." Prannoy Haldar, Rahul Bhike and Adil Khan have been out of trouble due to injury during these matches. His injury impacted our team's performance in these matches against Oman and Afghanistan. Conditions abroad were not in our favor. As far as India's star striker Sunil Chhetri is concerned about not scoring goals recently, I want to make it clear that he is not going anywhere. Sunil Chhetri is a tested striker, he will remain in the Indian team as long as he remains fit. He still continues to score goals and still has the ability to remain in the Indian team for a long time. Yes, it is certain that I will continue to focus on preparing budding strikers like Manveer Singh and Lane.

When the media asked Steamac why the Indian team was scoring less goals in their World Cup qualifiers match, he turned back and asked, 'Can you tell me which striker of the passport of India playing in any club? Doing goals? When none of your strikers are scoring goals in the domestic league, then why are you hoping that we will score at the international level.

India currently played three consecutive World Cup qualifiers. India are yet to play three more matches in the qualifiers and two of them are to play at home - against Afghanistan and Qatar and one against Bangladesh. It also qualifies for the 2022 World Cup as well as the 2023 Asia Cup. If India also gets the third place in it, then it will qualify for the Asia Cup.
