The people of Uttar Pradesh have become more aware about health than before. Be it information about diseases or get children vaccinated on time. In all these matters the state is improving. This information has come out in the report of the National Family and Health Survey.
According to the survey data, in the year 2015-16, 47.4 percent women knew about the methods of prevention of AIDS. Now in the year 2020-2021, this figure has increased to 67.6 percent. The number of people adopting family planning methods has increased from 45.5 percent to 46.4. All these people are in the age group of 15 to 49. Along with this, people are also becoming aware about the disease of cancer. Screening is being done on seeing symptoms.
The people of the state are paying much more attention to the health of the children than before. The number of people getting all the necessary vaccines for 12 to 23 weeks old babies has increased significantly. In 2015-16, 51.1 percent of children's parents had given them these vaccines, but now this figure has increased to 69.6 percent. Of these, the number of children taking BCG vaccine (vaccine against TB) has increased from 87.6 percent in 2015-16 to 93.2 percent now. The problem of being underweight in children below five years of age is also decreasing. In 2015-16, 39.5 percent children had this problem. Now it has come down to 32.1 percent.
The people of the state are also paying a lot of attention to health. People's body mass index (BMI) is improving. In 2015-16, 25.9 percent of men had a BMI below normal, but now this number has come down to 17.7 percent. At the same time, in women this figure has come down from 25.3 to 19.0. All these figures are for the age group of 15 to 49 years.
According to statistics, the problem of obesity is increasing in the state. In 2015-16, 34 percent of men had complaints of obesity. Now this number has come down to 13 percent, while in 2015-16 33 percent women were suffering from obesity, in the year 2020-21 this figure has come down to 14 percent.
Reduction in child mortalityThe infant mortality rate has also come down significantly in the state. 63.4 to 50.5 percent. has increased from 51.1 to 69.6 percent.
