#BeautyBasics: Everything You Need To Know About Gel Eyeliners!

Eyeliners are a MAJOR part of everyone's makeup kit. Kohl, pencil, brush, liquid, felt tip or gel - we all own at least one of these. Well, sometimes there's a huge difference between owning them and using them to its utmost potential. That is what #BeautyBasics is here for! Today's lesson: GEL EYELINERS! 

Let's break it down, shall we?

What?

Gel eyeliners are basically an intense pigment that comes with a thicker and creamier consistency that gives you an intense colour pay off. It is usually long-lasting. It is definitely the most dramatic eyeliner you can lay your hands on in terms of colour. They usually come in a pot with a brush but now there are gel eyeliner pencils also available.

Pros

If you talk about gel eyeliner pencils then it provides more control on the application. It is great for the waterline and ideal to use on-the-go. 

As for the pot, the colour ALWAYS stays put and doesn't budge.

The texture isn't liquidy so there isn't a chance of bleeding and definitely gives you more control.

Good to use for beginners are it allows room for error.

Great option for smokey eyes. 

Cons

As soon as gel liners are converted into the pencil, somehow the intensity of the colour dims and the formula sometimes tugs your eyelid and creases.

The pot will always need a brush applicator.

It tends to dry sooner than most eyeliners.

Things to keep in mind

Start off small; always draw a thin line and build as you go. 

Pick your own brush; You can go as thin or as flat as you'd like. Try out different brushes, you needn't use the brush that it came with and you can keep various brushes for various looks. 

Store in a cooler place and make sure the lid is shut tight. 

This formula along with a small mascara brush  can be doubled up as mascara too. 

Use a super fine brush with you are tightlining or lining your waterline with the eyeliner.
