Not The Sky But Our Cheeks Are Pink As PC Slays At TIFF Red Carpet In A Stunning Gown!

Global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas walked the red carpet for the world premiere of her upcoming film opposite Farhan Akhtar, The Sky is Pink at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) on Friday. As always, PeeCee was a stunner in a black and white Marchesa frill gown with layers. While she maintained her poker-straight hair look for the premiere, it was her winged eyeliner and trusty tan lip colour that finished her look.

She was accompanied by Farhan Akhtar and his girlfriend Shibani Dandekar, co-star Rohit Saraf and the film's director Shonali Bose.

Our desi girl also took to social media and shared a series of Instagram videos in which she was signing autographs and sharing her excitement for the premiere with her fans. In her recent interview, she revealed to Reuters that the film's story was so much in contrast with her own life. While Priyanka was getting married and enjoying her life with Nick Jonas, her character in the film was dealing with the loss of a child.   She also revealed that the support of her husband helped her a lot with this film.

While speaking about the character of the film, she said, "People get surprised when they see 'The Sky is Pink' and they’re like, 'this is not a Bollywood movie.' Bollywood is not a genre!"

The film tells the true story of the Chaudhary family, which is being narrated by their teenage daughter Aisha, played by Zaira Wasim. It shows the emotional, mental and financial struggle of Aisha's parents Aditi and Naren, portrayed by Priyanka and Farhan, as Aisha fights a rare genetic terminal illness.

At the age of 18, the real-life Aisha Chaudhury died on January 24, 2015. Just the day after her book, My Little Epiphanies, was published. The Sky is Pink ends with photographs and video clips of the real Chaudhury family living the moments depicted in the film, including a TEDx talk Aisha gave in India in 2014.

Talking about the film and the family, Farhan said, "You... have to be very strong as partners to go through what they went through." He has tried to play the part with a lot of "respect, and make sure that the dignity and grace that they’ve shown in real life comes through in the performance in the film."

Directed by Shonali Bose, who herself lost her 16-year-old son in an accident in 2010, the film is nothing like any other B-town project you've seen before. It will release in theatres on October 11, 2019.
