Kamran Akmal Hits Out At PCB For Not Including Shoaib Malik Citing Dhoni's Reference

There is no denying the fact that age plays an important role in a cricketer’s life, as a cricketer passes the age of 32-33 yrs, people start talking of his retirement even if he is fit and performing well because as per general perception, the shorter formats are for the young only.

We have also heard few times that the Indian selectors are not interested in even talking about players who are above 30 yrs of age, especially in the T20 and ODI formats but exceptions do happen, how we can forget to mention that 37 years old Dinesh Karthik compelled the selectors to include him in the squad on the basis of his superb performances in the IPL 2022.

DK has been included in the squad for the T20 World Cup and hopefully he will be fulfilling his responsibilities of a finisher in a great manner in the upcoming mega event.

The Pakistani cricket team also faced the problem of having a solid middle order batsman in the Asia Cup and many experts, former cricketers and fans thought that 40 yrs old Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik will make a comeback in the team because not only he will strengthen the middle order but the amount of experience that he has, will also benefit the team.

Shoaib Malik also criticized the squad and the management after Pakistani lost the final of the Asia Cup 2022 as he tweeted, “When will we come out from friendship, liking & disliking culture. Allah always helps the honest…”

However, the Pakistani selectors were in no mood to select the veteran cricketer for the T20 World Cup and now the Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has slammed the selectors and the Pakistan Cricket Board for ignoring Shoaib Malik just because of his age.

In an interview, Kamran Akmal states that England’s Alastair Cook is still playing at the domestic level, India’s MS Dhoni is still playing in the IPL despite the fact that he got retired 2 years ago and then asks if someone is telling him to stop playing. He adds that in Pakistan, age is made an issue unnecessarily and questions whether there is any problem with Shoaib Malik’s fitness or form. He goes on to say that if Shoaib Malik is suitable to play, he should be allowed to play.

In his words, “England waaley Alastair Cook ko khila rahe hai. Woh kya paagal hai? Dhoni IPL khel raha hai. Usse cricket chhode huye 2 saal ho gaye. Use koi keh raha hai ke naa khele? Humaare yaha par age ko lekey pata nahi kya issue banaya hua hai. Kya Shoaib Malik ki fitness or form nahi hai? Agar woh Pakistan ke liye suitable hai toh khilaye use.”

Kamran Akmal slams the PCB as he states that the management doesn’t even have any coordination among them and they are very egoistic who believe that they will remain in the PCB for their whole life. Launching a scathing attack on the management, Kamran Akmal says that he has seen every time the players are blamed if something wrong happens, neither the management nor the coaches accept their mistakes and the players are held responsible as it happened in the tenure of past three coaches. He further questions as to how many times the coaches have been held accountable.

However, Kamran Akmal still has some hope left because the current chairman of the PCB is Ramiz Raja, the former Pakistani cricketer. Kamran says that Ramiz Raja is a former cricketer so he must be knowing the value of a cricketer irrespective of the fact whether he is a part of the international squad or not.

Should Shoaib Malik be included in the Pakistani squad or not? What do you think? Let us know your views.
