This Former Indian Cricketer Wants Sanju Samson To Be Next T20 Skipper After Rohit Sharma

The Indian selectors will be facing a tough challenge in selecting the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup which is scheduled to take place in June in West Indies and USA jointly. The reason for the same is that many players have strengthened their candidature by performing superbly in the ongoing IPL 2024.

The biggest challenge for the selectors will be to select the wicketkeeper-batter as there are many options in front of them.

While Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel were already in the contention, Rishabh Pant has further made it difficult for the selectors by performing well in the IPL 2024.

While others may have a problem in making a choice, the Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh had no hesitation in advising the selectors to select Sanju Samson as the first choice wicketkeeper-batter and he also advised them to groom Sanju Samson as the next T20 skipper after Rohit Sharma retires. Harbhajan Singh was also full of praises for young cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal who smashed a century (104*) and remained unbeaten till the end.

Harbhajan Singh tweeted, “Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock is a proof of class is permanent. Form is temporary @ybj_19 and there shouldn’t be any debate about Keepar batsman. @IamSanjuSamson should walk in to the Indian team for T20 World Cup and also groomed as a next T20 captain for India after Rohit. Koi shak???”

There is no denying the fact that Sanju Samson has been terrific as a batter and as a skipper as well. In the IPL 2024, he has scored 314 runs in 8 innings and his strike rate has been 152.43 and Rajasthan Royals has been performing great under his leadership. RR is sitting at the top of the points table with 7 wins in 8 matches and yesterday RR defeated five times champions MI by 9 wickets in a match which was played at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium.

In yesterday’s match, MI won the toss and chose to bat first but they lost both the openers, Rohit Sharma (6 runs) and Ishan Kishan (0) at the score of 6 and Suryakumar Yadav also got out after scoring 10 runs. However, still MI managed to put up a competitive total of 179/9 with the help of brilliant knocks of Tilak Varma (65 runs, 45 balls, 5 fours & 3 sixes) and Nehal Wadhera (49 runs, 24 balls, 3 fours & 4 sixes).

RR chased the target successfully with 9 wickets in hand in 18.4 overs and RR bowler Sandeep Sharma was adjudged as the Player of the Match as he took a fifer and gave only 18 runs in his 4 overs.
