Man sentenced to 10 years prison time for sodomizing 7 YO

Chandigarh: A 24-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years prison time for sodomizing a 7-year-old boy by the additional District and Sessions Court of Chandigarh.

Mukesh was sentenced by the Court of ADJ Poonam R Joshi, under sections 377 (Unnatural offences) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act along with a fine of Rs 1.62 lakh imposed on him,

As per the Prosecution, the incident occurred on August 25, 2018 after the victim’s mother, a florist, had informed the police about her son who went missing while playing around her shop but later found him crying when she went to look for him.

The victim revealed that the convict had taken him to a jungle area on the pretext of giving him fruits and flowers and sexually assaulted him. He also forcibly committed an act of sodomy which was confirmed by medical reports.

The Police initiated probe based on the victim’s statement. The cops also recovered a CCTV footage which showed the convict taking the boy along with him.

Mukesh was arrested the next day and an FIR was registered against him at the Sector 31 Police Station.

The court after hearing the arguments of the case, held Mukesh guilty.
